Printers, Inks, & Paper
We print with Epson™ 9800 and 9880 printers. We used to print with iconic Iris 3047 printers but made a switch to Epson™ printers in 2007 when we completed testing on a new ink set that we developed with our Iris ink manufacturer, Lyson.
Our new ink set is derived from the ink set used for our Iris printers. When we first tested Epson™ printers, we found that Ultrachrome™ inks, the standard ink set for Epson™ printers, appeared to be flat and dull compared to the Iris ink we used from Lyson. We contacted Lyson and worked over a year to modify the inks we had been using in the Iris printers to be compatible with the Epson™ heads and to improve on our black inks tone neutrality. Now we use our own ink set for our Epson™ 9800 and 9880 printers. Many of our clients comment that the prints have even improved with this switch. Our inks have been independently tested to have a light fastness rated over 65 years for color prints and well over 100 years for black and white prints on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper.
We use only the best museum quality papers from Hahnemuhle to ensure a print that will last a lifetime. We are open to using other papers and can even hand coat paper and other media not normally intended for digital printing. Please call us if you require a specific paper for your print project. We also print to Fredericks Canvases both glossy and matte.
Our normal in-house papers:
Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta
